Dawn Okoro

April 7 – 19

Vantablack is one of the darkest substances on earth. The name is a portmanteau of the acronym VANTA (vertically aligned nanotube arrays) and black. Dawn Okoro’s work is a study of the black form. The nude figures in her paintings are meant to be expressive, and their poses are inspired by fashion photography. Okoro’s minimal figurative paintings on canvas emphasize space, shape, color, and texture.
